I have been a member of the USDAW trade union since 2001, I'm a shop steward, Health and Safety rep, Union Learning Rep, branch chairman and I'm an USDAW Divisional Councillor in the Midlands division - Elected in 2015. On Wednesday 24th June 2015 I was elected as the Vice Chairman of the USDAW Midlands Divisional Council until 25th May 2016. On Wednesday 31st May 2017 I was elected as the Vice Chairman of the USDAW Midlands Divisional Council until 25th April 2018. I will be using this website to keep you informed of what I will be doing as one of your USDAW Divisional Councillors. I will try to update this website with information about meetings attended, courses attended, conferences attended and any other duties I do as one of your USDAW Divisional Councillors in the Midlands. I will also try to add photos from events that I attend and I will try to post news that members of USDAW might find useful.

USDAW DIVISIONAL COUNCIL MEETING 31ST JULY 2019

Wednesday 31st July 2019 I attended the Divisional Council meeting at the Usdaw Redditch office.

We then read the minutes from the previous DC meeting. These were accepted. 

Minutes of the recent EC meeting
We read through the EC minutes. 
We spoke about 

The crisis in retail. 
Brexit. 
Civil liability act. 
Israel visit.

We took a look at the minutes from other Divisional Councils. These were accepted.

The school covered the women chainmakers festival. 
The school was at a new venue in kegworth. 
The school also looked at the time for better pay campaign. 
A raffle raised £120 which is to go to McMillan in memory of Paul White.

Federation weekend took place on Saturday 9th March and Sunday 10th March. 

A new committee was elected. 

The federation was about identifying issues in the workplace.

The divisional development centre was attended by 20 reps and the organising officers for academy 1 will be announced at the next meeting. 

Academy 2 - 2019.
 
The academy 2 programme has recently started. I will add the names of the organising officers once I know who they are.

(1) The Midlands Division are in charge of stewarding the 2019 ADM and at the next meeting we will discuss the rota and locations we are covering. 

(2) USDAW summer school. At the next meeting we will be selecting the attendees for series 1 and series 2. 


(3) 19th October wear red to work day - part of show racism the red card campaign.

(4) Feedback was given from the Divisional Conference. The venue was still very good and everyone enjoyed the conference. 

The guest speakers were well received.

The Divisional Council was informer that former DC Chairman and DC member Paul White had passed away. 
Funeral details were shared with the Divisional Council.
