I have been a member of the USDAW trade union since 2001, I'm a shop steward, Health and Safety rep, Union Learning Rep, branch chairman and I'm an USDAW Divisional Councillor in the Midlands division - Elected in 2015. On Wednesday 24th June 2015 I was elected as the Vice Chairman of the USDAW Midlands Divisional Council until 25th May 2016. On Wednesday 31st May 2017 I was elected as the Vice Chairman of the USDAW Midlands Divisional Council until 25th April 2018. I will be using this website to keep you informed of what I will be doing as one of your USDAW Divisional Councillors. I will try to update this website with information about meetings attended, courses attended, conferences attended and any other duties I do as one of your USDAW Divisional Councillors in the Midlands. I will also try to add photos from events that I attend and I will try to post news that members of USDAW might find useful.

USDAW Midlands Divisional Council Election 2018

USDAW branch E053 is to hold a meeting very shortly and I will be completing the Divisional council election nomination form. 

I will be standing in the USDAW Divisional council election 2018 - Midlands division seeking Re-Election. 

I have written my election address and this will be available at the USDAW Midlands Divisional conference on Saturday 25th November - Sunday 26th November.

Branches will receive my election address in early 2018.

Divisional Council Meeting Number 26

Wednesday 30th August 2017 I attended Divisional Council meeting number 26 at the USDAW Redditch office.

Minutes from the previous DC meeting
We then read the minutes from the previous DC meeting. These were accepted. 

Minutes of the recent EC meeting
No EC Minutes due to no EC meeting in August.

Minutes from other Divisional Councils
We took a look at the minutes from other Divisional Councils. These were accepted.

Central office circulars and press releases
We looked through a selection of circulars from central office and a selection of press releases. These were accepted.

We received the Deputy Divisional officers report and Divisional officers report from Gavin Dadley.

Membership 435,002 nationally and 56,918 divisional. 
Stand down recruitment  - 8,020 hours - 2,118 new members

Academy 2 - 3 officers.
New members - 394
New Reps - 27

Academy 1 - 10 officers.

New Reps - 77

(1) USDAW organising awards 2017 - Nominations close on 22nd September 2017.

(2) 9th - 15th October - Membership week.

(3) November Divisional Conference - Saturday 25th November and Sunday 26th November to be held at the Stratford Manor Hotel.

(4) Retired members committee to be discussed and voted on at the next meeting.

The Divisional officers report was read and all points noted/endorsed.

Retail Trades Conference - 10 Delegates required.
No selection needed as only 10 nominations received.
All 10 nominations accepted and will be written to.

Black and Asian Members Weekend Workshop - 5 Delegates required.
We voted for the delegates and reserves.
These will be updated here once all have been written to and confirmed.

We then moved on to any other business.

The next USDAW Midlands Divisional Council Meeting will be on Wednesday 25th October 2017.
