I have been a member of the USDAW trade union since 2001, I'm a shop steward, Health and Safety rep, Union Learning Rep, branch chairman and I'm an USDAW Divisional Councillor in the Midlands division - Elected in 2015. On Wednesday 24th June 2015 I was elected as the Vice Chairman of the USDAW Midlands Divisional Council until 25th May 2016. On Wednesday 31st May 2017 I was elected as the Vice Chairman of the USDAW Midlands Divisional Council until 25th April 2018. I will be using this website to keep you informed of what I will be doing as one of your USDAW Divisional Councillors. I will try to update this website with information about meetings attended, courses attended, conferences attended and any other duties I do as one of your USDAW Divisional Councillors in the Midlands. I will also try to add photos from events that I attend and I will try to post news that members of USDAW might find useful.

USDAW Divisional Council Meeting number 12

Wednesday 25th May I attended Divisional Council meeting number 12 at the USDAW Redditch office.

Selection of new USDAW Midlands Divisional Council Chairman and Vice-Chairman
Paul White was voted as Chairman.
Kate Macloed was voted as Vice-Chairman.

Minutes from the previous DC meeting
We read the minutes from the previous DC meeting. These were accepted. 

Minutes of the February EC meeting
We received the EC Minutes from Maureen.

Minutes from other Divisional Councils
We took a look at the minutes from other Divisional Councils. These were accepted. 

Central office circulars and press releases
We looked through a selection of circulars from central office and a selection of press releases. These were accepted.

Divisional officers report
We received the Deputy Divisional officers report from Gareth.

Membership total ( presently ) - 432,844 nationally and 56,500 divisional. 

New Members 2016 - 3,126 divisional. 

Academy 2 started Monday 29th February 2016 with 4 organising officers.
225 new members signed up so far.

Academy 1 update.
8 candidates started the 2016 Midlands Academy om 09/05/2016.


We received the Divisional officers report from Gavin Dadley.

(2) USDAW Membership Week - 20th - 26th June.

The Divisional officers report was read and all points noted/endorsed.

USDAW Summer School 1 and 2.

We then needed to vote on who would attend the USDAW first series Summer School.

J.Mcewan - Can it be clarified when Divisional Council members can speak at ADM?
Divisional Councillors can not move or secon a proposition but they can then take part in debates on propositions and the Executive Council statements.

S.Willmott - Simon has held a raffle and has raised £180 so far for MENCAP. A cheque was presented at the meeting which will be sent to MENCAP.
